General Rules

These rules are written here for those that need to reference them. None of these rules should be surprising or come across as anything other than “Yeah, fair”.

  • Game Settings: All game matches are run with the default settings of their games
  • Check-In: Players must check in at their designated pools at its designated start time.
    • If a player cannot be found at their pool, they will be given a 20 minute grace period.
    • At 20 minutes, they can be DQ’d from their match.
    • If they are not present for their losers bracket match after an additional 20 minutes, they will be DQd from the tournament.
  • Character selection: After each game, winning player may not switch characters, losing player may
    • If winning player used “Random Select” they must use it again for the next round
  • Disconnect: If a controller disconnects, the player who’s controller DC’d forfeits the round
  • Pausing: Accidental pausing will lose you the round (and yes it can lose you the set/game)
  • Interference: If the match is paused due to a connected wireless controller
    • If round is just beginning, restart the round
    • If round has been running for more than 10 seconds either
      • Have a referee countdown from 3 for players to unpause the match
      • Recreate the round situation and run from there
  • Coaching/Thinking: 1 minute allowed between games in a set. Can be used to coach, think, research, etc, etc.
    • During top 8, if a coach is already on the stage (accompanying the player to the stage) they may coach in between sets, but must keep it within 1 minute, and only in-between games. No other players may join the stage
  • Game Macros: In game macros granted via the in game menu are allowed.
  • Controllers: You must bring an allowed controller (see below) to your matches.
  • Adapters: Brook converters are allowed
  • Behavior: Players are expected to respect each other, the venue, and staff. Inappropriate behavior from a player may result in their DQ of bracket and removal from the event. Warnings can be issued for some actions.
    • Actions that will result in a warning include but are not limited to:
      • Physically interfering with a set they are not in
      • Repeatedly leaving the pool station between games in a set
      • Unsolicited and inappropriate physical contact with another at the venue (opponent, spectator, staff, etc)
      • Unintentional damage to equipment (tournament, opponents, self)
      • Unintentional damage to venue
      • Excessive trash-talking directly at other players
  • Actions that will result in a player being DQ’d and removed include but are not limited to:
    • Repeat of above actions that result in multiple warnings
    • Theft
    • Physically attacking another person at the venue
    • Other infractions covered in the Code of Conduct
